Summer Reading Challenge 2011

The children of St. Mark's have been invited to take part in this years Summer Reading Challenge which is being held at Newbiggin Hall Library over the summer holidays. Our children who have taken part in previous years have loved the challenge and events that go on each week so if you want to take part make sure you get involved! Strike Action

A reminder that due to Industrial Strike action school will be closed this Thursday, 30th June. School will reopen as usual on Friday 1st July.


Summer Fayre Donations


We are asking for donations of the following for our Summer Fayre;  Toys (good quality) and unwanted gifts or donations which can be used for our tombola stall.  These can be brought in from Monday 4th July.  Thank you for your support.                                             

Moving Up Day


Our children will be visiting their new classrooms and meeting their new teachers. We will also be welcoming our new  Reception children who will also be in school for their class visit.  Year 6 children who are transferring to St. Cuthbert’s, Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s High schools will be visiting their new schools.       

Creativity Week DVD

As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we will be selling copies of our fantastic DVD on Holy Island and our recent creativity week.  The DVD will be priced at £2.00 per copy and make a lovely keepsake.  We will be sending an order form with your child this week.  (This is to give us an idea of how many copies we will need).  Please send your orders into your child’s class teacher by Friday 8th July at the latest.  Thank you for your support.

Scotswood Natural Garden Community Garden


Scotswood Natural Community Garden  is       running  a Nature Club for young people aged 8—13years.  This club runs each Saturday from 10am until 1pm if your child is interested please see Mrs Gray our Year 3 teacher for further information.

Suncream


Now that the warmer weather seems to  be with us, can I ask that you to apply suncream to your child before they come into school.  It is also advisable that they wear a sunhat/cap.
